Reading about ICP torches got me thinking. "I wonder what the hottest temperature humans have synthesized is?"
Turns out, 100 million (10 to the 8) K is the highest temperature that has been generated. That is fucking hot. The core of the sun is about 15 million K. So we can make a temperature that is about 6 and a half times hotter than the core of the sun. Crazy.

This temperature was synthesized inside a magnetic confinement in nuclear fusion research facilities.
